My husband’s family also has a tradition that the kids (that’s now us grownups) take a walk in the afternoon. That’s something I need to do more often with my son than I do now.

I recommend a hike as part of all winter holidays – so much tension can be generated by all that pent-up energy with family all confined to a limited space and getting excited. A walk is a wonderful release!

Lovely! My two boys, who are three and six, and I walk in the (urban) woods by our house every week. We all enjoy it, especially visiting the same place and watching the seasons change.
